The participants of a year-long “Capacity building of human rights defenders in Kazakhstan” project were awarded certificates in Almaty. In total 10 people from 6 regions of Kazakhstan participated in this project to undergo human rights training courses.

Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the National Standard for palliative care provision in Kazakhstan. The document regulates the scope of palliative care which shall be provided at the same level as other medical and social services.

This January, Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan (SFK) starts implementing its new strategy for 2014 – 2017, which will continue to work in traditional for the Foundation fields, such as human rights, public finance transparency, development of independent media and support of youth initiatives. In May of this year, the Soros Foundation Kazakhstan launched a new website and six months later, the site obtained the National Internet Prize Award-2013 in the Public Organizations category.
