Found Soros Kazakhstan represents the strategy for NGO of Karaganda

KARAGANDA, on April 23, 2012 – The Fonda Soros Kazakhstan (FSK) representatives arrived to Karaganda for a meeting with local NGO, experts and mass media to tell about strategic priorities and program initiatives for the next two years.

It is the exit meeting of FGC first in the current year with civil society of the region. Since 2010 the Fund held similar meetings with NGO and Atyrau’s mass media, Aktobe, Ust Kamenogorsk to present the new strategy of FGC directed on formation of public the politician concerning transparency of public finances, legal reforms, support of mass media and youth initiatives.

For 2011 of FGC I allocated 321 grants in such directions, as budget planning and monitoring of the income of extracting branches; legal reform and observance of human rights; development of mass media; development of expert networks; support of youth initiatives. From them 20 grants were allocated to non-governmental organizations and individual persons of Karaganda and the Karaganda region.

Nargis Kasenova, the Chairman of the Board of trustees of FGC, tells: “In Fund strategy development of regional projects always was in a priority. This year the pilot initiative of FGC of development of civil society started. One of three approved projects within this initiative will be realized in the Karaganda region. We call NGO and initiative groups of rural areas and the small cities of area to take part in this project for disclosure of the opportunities and development of the potential”.

“According to our data in recent years NPO of the Karaganda region got financial support of FGC concerning transparency of state finance and mass media. At the same time, among unique initiatives of the region it is possible to call the Hospice at Home project realized in 2011. Today it is the first and while only in Kazakhstan experience of rendering palliative home visiting service for the people needing special leaving at heavy stages of a disease. We hope that this initiative will get a response and in other regions of Kazakhstan” – Aida Aydarkulova, the director of programs of FGC speaks.
